When my wife refused to acknowledge our daughter at the sports day, I divorced her on the spot Chapter 04

“Daddy, if Mommy wants the ribbon, let her have it,” my daughter said softly, tugging at my hand. Her pale little face lifted with a brave smile, looking up at me with heartbreaking obedience.
I stroked her head, my heart aching.

People around us snickered:
“Look at this pair—still dreaming of climbing the social ladder while CEO Liang’s family is so happy together!”
“Yeah, what kind of father teaches his kid to call every rich woman ‘Mommy’? Using his own child as a tool, how shameless.”
“A grown man with hands and feet, always trying to live off a woman’s money. Pitiful.”

I glanced at the man mocking me for wanting to “live off a woman,” and suddenly recognized him. I smiled coldly.
“You’re Zhang Jing’s son?”
He looked startled, then sneered arrogantly.
“So you’ve done your homework on Haiyun City’s elite, huh? My dad is Zhang Jing. What about it? I don’t like men, so don’t get any ideas.”
I laughed darkly. “Go home and tell your dad that the Fangyun project is off the table. I won’t invest a single dime.”

The old man had pulled every string and called in every favor to get a meeting with me. I’d only considered investing out of courtesy, but now I wouldn’t give him a cent.

“What ‘Yun’ project? Are you out of your mind, pretending to be rich in front of me?”
A spoiled second-generation heir who didn’t even know the key projects of his own family business—pure deadweight.
I ignored him and turned to take my daughter to the next event: the ball-pushing race.

My daughter was a natural athlete, quickly outpacing the other kids.
But as she neared the finish line, Zhu Hao suddenly charged at her, slamming into her and knocking her to the ground.

“Tian-Tian!”
I rushed over, horrified. My daughter’s palms, arms, and knees were scraped, and her mouth was full of blood.
My heart nearly stopped—I thought she’d been seriously hurt—but after a frantic check, I realized she’d just lost a front tooth.
I sighed with relief, but seeing her hurt like this still broke my heart.

Zhu Hao scrambled up, laughing triumphantly.
“That’s what you get for trying to steal my mommy!”

I lost my temper. I stepped forward and gave him a push, sending him sprawling.
“Xiao Hao!”
Liang Mei and Zhu Yang both rushed over, their faces twisted with anger.

“Mu Jun, how could you? Hurting a child!” Liang Mei yelled, storming up and slapping me hard across the face.
“You monster! If anything happens to Zhu Hao, you’ll pay for it!”

I was holding my daughter and couldn’t defend myself, so I took the blow. My cheek burned, but I just laughed coldly.
“Your own daughter is hurt, but you don’t even look at her. You only care about protecting that little brat, don’t you? Fine. Today, we get divorced. Our daughter stays with me.
And I’m pulling all my investments from Shengxing. It’s over.”

The crowd went silent for a moment, then burst into laughter.
“Buddy, you’ve got to be kidding me. You and CEO Liang were never married—her real husband is right there! Stop embarrassing yourself.”
“You’re not withdrawing any investments. How much money could you possibly have? Don’t make us laugh!”
“Yeah, focus on apologizing to CEO Liang for hurting her son. That’s the only thing you should be worried about right now.”

My daughter cried quietly in my arms, and I held her tighter, determined to protect her no matter what.
